Write A Letter...

Thursday, April 25, 2013

April is National Letter Writing month.
Letters are something of the past it seems these days.  With so much technology who actually puts pen to paper anymore?  I remember my mother showing me some letters my grandfather used to write to my grandmother everyday he was away in the war.  It was so romantic and something I wish happened more often. There's something magnificent about receiving a letter in the mail.

Here are a few of my favorite ways to write a letter:

Happy 2 months London!

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

At exactly 9:18pm tonight(Monday) my London- aka... my lovey, my princess, my precious one....
turned 2 months old! Where has the time gone?
London is starting to smile more, coo(I'd love to know what she's saying), and has discovered her hands.  We had her 2nd month check up today and she is moving right along.  She is now weighing 10 1/2 pounds and is 23 inches.  It was a great doctor visit besides the two shots she received.  Both mom and baby cried.  My only concern with London at this point is she doesn't like to wear headbands/bows in her hair!!! What am I going to do? Doesn't she know I bought a gazillion of them because I was sure she'd wear one with every outfit.  Nope, they last about 5 seconds which is enough time for me to snap a quick photo.  It's okay though because she brings so much joy and love to our life everyday with or without a bow.

Afternoon for One...

Friday, April 19, 2013

We've had several rainy days around here and yesterday was no exception.  With the rain and cool weather it almost felt like a Fall day.  My lovey went down for her afternoon nap and I decided to have an afternoon(or rather 2 hours) for one.  I've been dying to make this hot tea recipe I had seen on
So, with some hot tea, a good book, and some fresh flowers I curled up.

Here's the recipe for the tea:
Ingredients
1/2 inch ginger, peeled and sliced
1/4 lemon
1 teaspoon manuka honey ( I used regular honey)

Preparation
1. With the back of a knife, smash ginger to release the flavor. Add to teacup.
2. Add teaspoon of honey and pour in hot water.  Let steep for 2-3 minutes, then add juice of lemon.
3. Enjoy

Pull yourself together...

We've had a few sleepless nights around here this week.  Just when I think we are getting London on a schedule- bam! she decides no we aren't!  She's been sleeping great the last two weeks going to bed around 8pm and not waking up until 5am.  We were actually getting a full nights sleep and thought we had the hang of this.  This week though she is waking up every 2-3 hours again.  I am banging my head against the wall wondering what has changed in the past several days???  This quote pretty much sums up how I am feeling right now!

Leaving on a jet plane!

Tuesday, April 16, 2013

London and I are heading South next week to visit my parents and our other family in Houston.  We are hoping for many sunny relaxing days.  It will be her first ride on the airplane(YIKES!) but we are super excited. Here's all the essentials I am considering packing for my little lovey.

The Perfect Flat...

I've been on the lookout for the perfect ballet flat for sometime now.  With a baby in tow, a diaper bag to carry, groceries, and any other crap,  the heels are no longer an option.  I knew this was coming and have finally had to face reality.  With so many options out there for a ballet flat I was looking for a few must haves.

1. Must be leather.
2. Must be comfortable- I can wear everyday comfortable.
3. Must be neutral enough I could wear with multiple outfits.
4. Must be easy to pack and light enough to throw in my bag.
5. Must hug my foot so my heel doesn't come out when I walk.

The winner:

$138

I was so impressed with these shoes I considered more than one pair.  They are so comfortable and the leather is nice and soft and there's even a small tiny wedge so you're not completely flat on the ground! Best of all the CeCe comes in 6 different colors in case you can't make up your mind.

Weekend Getaway...

Friday, April 12, 2013

Here's where I am headed to this weekend.
Not really, but if I was to leave Overland Park, KS this is where I would want to go.

Lanikai Beach on the island of Oahu, HI

Just me, my love, my London, a good book, and a Ling Hi Mui Margarita.
Heaven

Have a great weekend,
 Noelani

So, I had a plan...

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

Seven months into my pregnancy my left wrist started to really bother me with numbness and pain. I thought maybe it would go away once I had the baby, but not a chance.  My poor love has listened to me complain everyday for the past 5 months about this stupid left wrist and told me to go to the doctor.  Well, I finally went to the doctor the other day and she told me I have carpal tunnel, and the only option was surgery on the damn thing.  Awesome.  This can't be though because I had a plan...

1. To lose the last stupid 10 pounds so I can get back in my pre-pregnancy clothes.  I was actually going to start doing the Insanity Workout next Monday.

I had planned on looking like this by June.

       2. I was also going to make a new piece of jewelry I had thought about the other day(while laying on the couch.  This was when I was supposed to be napping).

3. I was going to organize my laundry room to look like this.

4. I was going to get things ready for our neighborhood garage sale in a couple of weeks.

5. To lose the last stupid 10 pounds so I can get back in my pre-pregnancy clothes.  I was actually going to start doing the Insanity Workout next Monday.
Clearly this was my main objective of the plan.

I gave second thoughts to having the surgery. I have a newborn how will I feed her? how will I hold her? how will I drive if we need to go somewhere? I contemplated the surgery by my love pretty much said:

So, that's what I am doing tomorrow morning.  I actually can't wait to have my wrist back to normal. And, if my plan has to wait then that's ok.  This will give me more time to snuggle with my precious.  Actually, maybe this is someone's way of telling me to enjoy what I have at the moment and worry about all the other things later.

A peek into London's life...

Monday, April 8, 2013

We are starting to settle into life over here with our little precious.  It's hard to imagine what life was like BL(before London).  This week she will be 7 weeks old and I am not sure where the time has gone.  The days are basically a big blur and seem to run into each other.  Half the time I have no idea what day of the week it is??? Our schedule is pretty much the same everyday- it's kind of like Groundhog Day over here, but I wouldn't want it any other way.

Here's a peek into our everyday life.

London's Schedule
Wake up anywhere from 7-9am.
Drink some milk.
Play for a bit on activity mat or we read a book.
Sit in the swing.
Fall asleep.
Drink some more milk.
Baby Einstein time.
Fall asleep.
and so on and so on....

Here's mama's schedule
Wake up when London wakes me up.
Pour a cup of coffee and reheat 4-5 times within the first hour because I get about one sip in every 10 minutes.
Stuff some sort of breakfast into my mouth- this is usually a piece of toast, Special K breakfast flatbread sandwich, or yogurt.
Try as fast as I can to get London's bottle ready without her screaming.
Feed London and then playtime.
Try to fall asleep on the couch while she's sleeping- although this is a lot harder than you would think.  As I lay there I think about all the things I could be doing if I wasn't laying there.  By the time I usually get ready to fall asleep, she wakes up!
and so on and so on...

I am off work until the middle of May.  So although our everyday routine is the same, I am trying to savor each and every second because I know it's going to go by so fast!!!!

Here she is the first 6 weeks.  She's already changed so much!!!

A New Season...

It's been several months since I've blogged about anything ,which in the blog world means death for your blog.  However, I've been a busy lady adjusting to becoming a new mother!  My love and I have entered into a new Season of our life and we are enjoying each and every moment watching our precious one bloom.  There truly is nothing better.
The weather is coming into a new Season as well.  After a long winter(hopefully it's over) trees and flowers are blossoming and the Sun is making a daily debut now.  This is my favorite time of the year and one I will never forget.

“She turned to the sunlight
    And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
    "Winter is dead.”
